The Story Behind

Legacy Healthcare Solutions Incorporated

The name Legacy Healthcare Solutions Incorporated was thoughtfully chosen to reflect both our shared vision and the individual journeys that led us to establish this organization.

As nurses, educators, and lifelong learners, we have each been shaped by meaningful experiences caring for individuals and families across different stages of life. One of us brings years of experience in nursing education, program leadership, and community-based care. The other brings strong clinical expertise from working in acute and critical care settings. Our paths first crossed in the classroom — as instructor and student — where a shared commitment to compassion, professionalism, and continuous growth became evident.

Over time, our professional relationship evolved into a partnership grounded in mutual respect, trust, and a shared desire to make a lasting difference in people’s lives. We began to reflect o what truly defines meaningful healthcare, and we realized that beyond clinical skills and daily tasks, what remains is the impact we leave behind — the legacy of care we provide.

The word “Legacy” represents this enduring influence. It reflects the values we have inherited from mentors, patients, families, and communities who have shaped our practice. It also symbolizes the responsibility we carry to contribute positively to the future of healthcare through safe, compassionate, and structured support.

The phrase “Healthcare Solutions” was intentionally chosen to convey flexibility, innovation, and a commitment to addressing a wide range of needs. While we begin by offering non-medical home support services, our long-term vision includes expanding into nurse-guided health services, education, and community-focused care initiatives.

Together, our individual experiences form a collective legacy — one rooted in dedication, learning, and service. Through Legacy Healthcare Solutions Incorporated, we aim to build a trusted partnership with families and communities, supporting individuals not only in their current needs but also in shaping healthier, more confident tomorrows.

Our Founders: Nurses at the Helm

Maricon is a Registered Nurse, bringing extensive experience across international nursing, community support services, critical care, and Canadian clinical practice.

Her healthcare journey began internationally, where she developed strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and a compassionate approach to patient care in diverse healthcare environments. After moving to Vancouver to further advance her nursing career, she completed her post-graduate nursing certification in British Columbia while also working as a Community Support Worker, providing direct in-home and community-based support to clients with varying healthcare needs. This experience deepened her understanding of the importance of individualized, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care within the home setting.

She later practiced as an RN in Ontario before returning to BC where she continues to work in the Intensive Care Unit. Her critical care experience strengthened her commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcare services both inside and outside the hospital setting.

Inspired by her mentor and former clinical instructor, Emily—now her business partner and co-founder—she helped establish Legacy Healthcare Solutions with a vision of providing professional, reliable, and compassionate home healthcare services to the community.

She believes that strong clinical knowledge, early intervention, and compassionate care can help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and support safer recovery within the comfort of clients’ homes. Through Legacy Healthcare Solutions, she remains committed to leading with professionalism, integrity, and genuine compassion while promoting excellence in home healthcare delivery.

Caring Beyond the Visit

Healthcare Resources

At our core, we believe that staying informed is a vital part of staying healthy at home. As a dedicated home care provider, we work closely with families to align our care with national and provincial health priorities.

Below is a guide to key healthcare awareness dates featuring helpful resources and gentle ways our team can support you and your loved ones:

July: Summer Safety & Injury Prevention

As the summer heat peaks in BC, we focus on keeping seniors safe, hydrated, and comfortable.

  • National Injury Prevention Day (July 5): Falls are a primary concern for independent seniors. Our care teams focus gently on fall-prevention strategies, assisting with safe mobility, and identifying minor tripping hazards around the home.

  • International Self-Care Day (July 24): Caring for a loved one is a beautiful journey, but it requires balance. We provide reliable respite care so family caregivers can take a quiet moment for themselves.

  • Learn More: Find evidence-based injury prevention toolkits at Parachute Canada.

A Thought for the Season: If you are noticing changes in a loved one’s mobility this summer, you don't have to navigate it alone. We are always here to chat about simple ways to make the home a safer, more comfortable place.

--------------------------------------------------------

August: Medication Safety & Immunization Prep

August is about gently preparing for the upcoming autumn respiratory season and managing daily health routines.

  • National Immunization Awareness Month: Our caregivers are happy to help clients manage schedules, arrange transportation, and comfortably attend appointments for routine wellness checks and seasonal vaccines.

  • International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31): Safe medication management is a cornerstone of senior wellness in BC. We provide thoughtful, consistent reminders to ensure daily prescriptions are taken safely and accurately.

  • Learn More: Read about provincial health campaigns through the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA).

A Thought for the Season: When a medication routine becomes complex, a little extra reassurance can go a long way. If you ever feel overwhelmed by managing daily health schedules, we are happy to assist.

--------------------------------------------------------

September: Mobility, Pain Management & Reflection

Fall brings a focus on managing chronic conditions with dignity, and honoring our community’s diverse history.

  • Arthritis & Pain Awareness Month: Chronic discomfort can make daily tasks a challenge. Our care aides offer gentle, patient assistance with morning routines, light meal preparation, and activities designed to keep joints moving comfortably.

  • National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30): We are deeply committed to providing culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive care to all Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients across British Columbia.

  • Learn More: Access chronic pain resources at The Arthritis Society of Canada

A Thought for the Season: Independence looks different for everyone. If arthritis or joint pain is making daily tasks less enjoyable for your loved one, we can explore gentle ways to lend a helping hand.

--------------------------------------------------------

October: Mental Health & Workplace Wellness

As the days get shorter, we shine a light on emotional well-being and the power of human connection.

  • Mental Illness Awareness Week & World Mental Health Day (October 10): Companion care is woven into everything we do. We focus on meaningful conversation, shared activities, and a consistent, friendly presence to help ease seasonal loneliness.

  • Canada's Healthy Workplace Month: We take this time to celebrate our incredible Care Aides and Nurses, ensuring they feel supported so they can bring their warmest, brightest selves into your home.

  • Learn More: Find mental health toolkits and resources at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).

A Thought for the Season: A warm cup of tea and a good conversation can brighten an entire afternoon. If you feel a loved one could benefit from some extra companionship this fall, we would love to introduce ourselves.

--------------------------------------------------------

November: Caregiver Support & Chronic Care

November is dedicated to supporting the heart of home care: the incredible family caregivers in our community.

  • National Family Caregivers Month: Supporting an aging parent or spouse is deeply meaningful, but it is okay to ask for help. Our flexible care options allow family members to step away to rest, knowing their loved one is safe and safe-kept.

  • Diabetes Awareness Month: Managing blood sugar relies heavily on healthy routines. Our team loves to help with specialized, nutritious meal preparation that fits beautifully into a diabetic wellness plan.

  • Learn More: BC-specific caregiver support groups and resources can be found at Family Caregivers of BC.

A Thought for the Season: Caring for the caregiver is just as important as caring for the client. If you are balancing family care with your own busy life, please remember that reaching out for a little extra support is a sign of strength.

--------------------------------------------------------

December: Winter Wellness & Infection Control

We close out the year by protecting our clients from winter viruses and ensuring safe holiday celebrations.

  • National Hand Washing Awareness Week (December 1–7): Protecting vulnerable seniors from seasonal colds and viruses is our highest priority. Our staff follow rigorous, professional infection control protocols to keep your home healthy.

  • Holiday Mental Health: The holidays can sometimes feel isolated for those who cannot easily travel. We provide a warm, festive presence and happily help clients use technology to video-call their families.

  • Learn More: Get up-to-date BC public health advice and flu clinic locations at HealthLink BC.

A Thought for the Season: As winter arrives, our goal is to keep your home feeling warm, bright, and secure. Whether you need a little short-term help over the holidays or ongoing peace of mind, we are here to support your family.
